Welcome to the new QC Appointments website.
This website contains information about the process for the award of Queen’s Counsel. It provides information to applicants, assessors (formerly referees) and others during a competition. It also provides information about completed competitions run by the Queen’s Counsel Selection Panel. It is updated regularly.
CURRENT COMPETITION 2009-10
We currently expect that the list of successful applicants for the 2009-10 competition will be announced around the end of February. All interviewed applicants will be sent a personal notification of the outcome of their application in advance of the public announcement. The MoJ has told us that they are working towards a Ceremony date for successful applicants of Monday 22 March 2010. You may wish to keep an eye on this website for any further updates on these dates.

NEW COMPETITION 2010-11
The Selection Panel plans to continue to hold annual competitions in successive years. The Panel currently expects to invite applications for a further (5th) round of QC appointments sometime in March 2010 – when an up to date application form and Guidance to Applicants will be placed on this website – with a closing date in mid April 2010. Prospective applicants may wish to begin preparing the material for their application in advance. The next competition is expected to be operated on broadly the same basis as in 2009-10.
